The History Project - part 1
Posted on 11:00 AM by Unknown
Introduction to The History Project A couple of months ago, I posted an assortment of old leaflets, posters, propaganda, photos and other interesting paraphernalia on Facebook. People liked it and asked me if I had any more stuff. That is an understatement. I'm now extending my history-recovery project to Blogdonia. This will be an ongoing DEAD AIR feature! I'm hoping that people Googling old events/people/etc, will find something here that...

Wishing all my friends up north, my very best! Do what they tellya to do, okay? (I know, its hard to take advice from the likes of Chris Christie, but on this one occasion, listen to him!) There is actually snow in the North Carolina mountains before Halloween! That may be a first!Love ya and stay safe.~*~Still at Sea, Storm Drenches East Coast (New York Times)Hurricane Sandy grounds thousands of flights worldwide (CNN)Hurricane Sandy speeds...

Jill Stein for president
Posted on 7:04 PM by Unknown
Greenville Greens expressing ourselves, earlier today in downtown Greenville. Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein is attempting to raise $16,000 by midnight tonight. Compared to Barack Obama's one billion dollars (the highest amount that any presidential candidate has ever raised) and Romney's $881 million (and climbing rapidly), it seems like a mere pittance, doesn't it? So if you have a few bucks, send it Jill's way.I don't, but...

My intrepid radio co-hosts, at left, Gorgeous Gregg Jocoy and Double A diehard. Radio podcast is up--have a listen, yall!~*~There are about a half-dozen irrepressible Greenville Occupiers left (although hundreds still access the Facebook page), and we are wondering what we should call our group. Time to segue into Another Phase. Any suggestions? Old Occupiers? Greenville Badasses? Lefty Upstate? Upstate Lefties? The Greenville Remainders?...

Daisy's latest pesky earworms and other assorted music for your Thursday. Turn it up!Only You Know And I Know - Delaney and Bonnie with Eric Clapton Live from their British tour in 1969, also features George Harrison. YOWZA! Listen to them purty gee-tars! Excellent visuals, also.~*~That song reminded me of this one, since Delaney and Bonnie play/sing back-up... we also heard the Jerry Garcia Band's version on the indispensable DEAD AIR (namesake of this blog) last night. Check those spots!
Posted on 12:47 PM by Unknown
We were in Atlanta around October 12th, and I saw this AWESOME ANTIQUE AUTOMOBILE! (As always, you can click to enlarge.) DEAD AIR regulars know how much I love old cars, and simply can't resist snapping a photo whenever I see them. Not sure of make and model, since I didn't get a good shot of the front. ~*~ I had a BIG BROWN BLOTCH (I guess that would be the most accurate description) surgically removed from my left calf yesterday. They...

Odds and Sods: Final debate edition
Posted on 5:29 PM by Unknown
Talented Jill Andrews at Fall for Greenville, last Sunday. Admittedly, I haven't been writing about the debates, because I find the entire spectacle depressing. (I have been dutifully covering them on the weekly radio show, which of course you have been listening to!) I have a hard time taking these things seriously... all that pacing around the stage during the last debate, made me nostalgic for Johnny Carson, or anybody else who knew how to...

My problem with "Men's Rights Advocates"
Posted on 2:28 PM by Unknown

I try to read the Men's Rights Activists... I really do. I try to see their point of view. I have spent hours arguing with the ones who are willing to argue. And... I... well, I hardly know what to say. Because I usually can't get past the first paragraphs of what the MRAs write. I can't even get to the heart of their arguments, assuming they have any.For example, take this blog post from earlier this year (recently emailed to me), titled...

Asheville Comic Expo
Posted on 11:16 AM by Unknown
... was small, but mighty. Yesterday at the Asheville Civic Center, North Carolina.Apparently, delightful Fanaticon (photos here and here) is no more, and thus, the Asheville Comic Expo was launched. Photos below, and as always, you can click to enlarge.Special shout-out for Kitsch and Crossbones (first photo), from whom I bought the cutest skull-pin ever... also, a special hello to Cassie Hart Kelly (second photo), my favorite artist at the Con....
